Talking Baby Pic Restored!!!

Hello Ladies and Gents,
This is my first time on RetouchPRO, I love retouching images, but as always there is something that can be fixed. The first link is a photo of a friend when he was a little tike. Took about 10 hours to complete. I am aware that different monitors see differnt color tones and what not, so what you see may not be exactly what I see. Crits and Comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance....

You've done a superb job on your friend's baby photo. This is one difficult restoration. You brought back the color and the texture especially on the pants.

I'm guessing, that's a Christmas tree behind him. From the restored one, you couldn't tell what it is. It would be great, if you could bring back some of the red glitters, this would be perfect.

Welcome to Retouchpro, brownsugar5.

Hi brownsugar5,

Welcome to RP from me too !!!

I agree with Soleah .... excellent restoration!

The only thing I would have done differently is the contrast .... I also tend to tweak the background to make the main image 'pop up' ... but, in my opinion, the very strong contrast made you lose too many details particularly in and around his curls....

Hi,

As Soleah and Flora have already said, nice work.

Just a couple of points.

In the first image, the man has lost a little skin texture, most noticeable in the area on the RHS above his mouth. Try adding a little noise in this area to see if it improves things (you'll probably find it won't, and you'll have to borrow texture from other areas of his face.)

On the second picture, the baby's blouse/top is blown out on my monitor. Details like the scalloped sleeve edges, and pleats and creases in the top are lost because of this. Should be easy to adjust with a Curves adjustment.

Anyway, welcome to RP, look forward to seeing more of your work.

As everyone has already said - very nice work! Only small things I can fault are, as has already been mentioned, the baby's top is a little blown out. I also thought that the man's right hand eye (our view) needs a bit of a fold under the eye to match the left hand eye.
