Yours looks pretty good--why not just adjust the color balance in the highlights a little bit (see attached)? The first attachment is more cyan in highlights. The second attachment is same thing, but limited to face and shirt areas. I just started with your fixed version.

BTW, the original you posted is devoid of the jacket detail--I'm wondering if it was a bit over-compressed.

I only played with colour, added a couple of adjustment layers (colour balance + hue/saturation) and a very very low gaussian blur. Then I just history brushed the eye area and mouth as well as the non-face areas to remove the overall blur happening

Oops forgot to add, decided to let him stay a bit pink too, so I didn't totally remove that. Oh, and this is my first go at playing with and uploading the result on here so it is pretty basic.

Adding Blue

I took your photo and noted that his white shirt was somewhat deficient in blue. I switched to lab and added some color and more blue. I didn't mask out the correction on his shirt but Perhaps his skin tones are more pleasing.

Hi Dawghair

Your picture is great. I am sure your cmyk one will look fine in print. I can’t quite get the same as you have but as Bart has mentioned it could be down to the jpeg compression.

You mention that you do a lot of these. I am sure everyone here would be interested in how you did yours and if you could post more in the future that would be great practice for us.

Levels to set Black and white points
Curves to correct skin
Ro’s DeGrunge
Sharpened.
Curve for contrast

dawg,

nice sites.

you've a number of typos on the 'advanstar' one in the text below 'Welcome to Digital Imaging'. 'Duluths' shld be 'Duluth's'. 'Weather' shld be 'Whether'. 'arent' shld be 'aren't'. i know that on web sites some folks tend to feel that apostrophes arent necessary, but on a professional site, i would tend to say they are. and ignore my own lack of these in the forums here....i'm just lazy

i also enjoyed the games
