Another Restoration Job For C&C

Here's another shot I did some work on. The original shot was really small and strange. It's only about 1.5 x 1.75 inches in size and the picture is kind of like a thin plastic / paper on a paper backing. Most of it was flaking off and very delicate. I think it dates back to around 1937'ish. The first picture is the original and the second is what I've done with it. Any pointers on making it better?

Thanks, Jon.

Looks good, though theres a lot of colour noise on the jacket (which I assume is from the scan not the original image)

Perhaps try converting the image to greyscale to get rid of the colour noise.

Scan in Color

Well I felt the contrast in the face was a little on the low side. So running levels and moving the black slider to the right and masking out the dark jacket would improve the face.

You can use a levels or curves adjustment layer and then just select the lighter layer

Or use a Blend if on the layer style menue and use a blend if to mask out the darker part of the photo
