What do you think? I restored this picture for a friend and I'd like some critique please. Warning to 56kers...these images are quite large. Before: http://img383.imageshack.us/my.php?i...korpion2vv.jpg After: http://img150.imageshack.us/my.php?i...estored6yz.jpg Thanx...

Impressive restoration. Now you can start the color correction process.

Is there seriously something wrong with the colour...I have an IBM ThinkVision monitor and it looks fine on mine...?

Nicely done! The only thing I would do is add more of a textured background. The one you currently have just seems too uniform to me.

Hi Ziaphra, Nice, clean and nicely blended selection/extraction!! Great honeycomb pattern removal! What I'd do differently is using a gradient instead of a 'flat' one colour background ... and yes, I tend to agree with goose443 about the boy's colours ... There still seems to be a light reddish colour cast on the boy which makes the image look a bit lifeless.. Even though his ball and shoes should be white ... or nearly white, they look a flat kind of reddish beige on my monitor too... just a couple of shades lighter than the background...

It could be my system but it looks a little magenta-y/reddish to me. I measured and your highlights are quite high in yellow and your shadows aren't neutral either. Here's version with a very quick correction that still needs work but neutralizes some of your cast.

Thanx goose443...I did this revision before I saw your post but I thought I would post mine anyway. How does it look? http://img149.imageshack.us/my.php?i...estored2db.jpg

Z- Quite nice. Retaining a lot of detail while also removing the old-paper texture is quite a handful. You did wonderfully, as usual. Actually, I sort of like the cast, as it is the same cast as the original, which distinguishes it as an aged image. Sometimes making an antique image appear as it was taken yesterday seems a little sterile. I'll bet the parents of this little munchkin really like your effort! Good to "see" you again, by the way.
