Navy Man

I am just looking for some constructive criticism. I did this photo for my mother in law...

Feel free to browse any other photos there and critique them as well, but please use the "title" when referring to the photo you are going to critique.

Thanks in advance, and I'll be monitoring this post for quite some time.

Chris,

Your restorations look pretty good, but I feel that there needs to be a bit more contrast. I struggle with creating significant contrast and losing the details. I have not searched this website yet, but there may be a tutorial to increase the contrast without losing the details.

I'm not as particular as some of the experts here. Overall I think your restorations look good.

What was the source of your image? There appears to be paper texture in your scan. You can reduce this by setting your scan software to descreen.

You can increase contrast by doing a Curves Adjustment layer. I start by setting points at the 3/4 tones then using the arrow keys on my keyboard to nudge the whites up a little and the blacks down a little.
