Smile To show what I love to do.

Hi, I retouch photos as a hobby and I decided to make a website to show some examples of what I do. To practice, I often get old photos off the net and after retouching, I send them back to the author. Many were pleased and even put a reference to my site on theirs.
Check out my site when you have time.
If anyone needs help with a photo, just let me know, it's my pleasure to help.
Thanks for your time.

Hi, Trudy. Nice web site. Some good restorations. Look forward to seeing more of your work around here.

Re: To show what I love to do.

Hi Trudy,
Since you've posted this in the "critiques", here are my thoughts on your work:
It's difficult to determine the quality of your work as the images are too small. I think that retouch work is about details, and it's not possible to see how those details look at such a small size.
It appears that most of your work involves changing backgrounds. Just my opinion, but I think your drastic changes are not appropriate to the original images. In many cases, you've changed a simple studio background (which is appropriate to portraits) to a very cluttered and distracting scene. While those edits may be fun and self-challenging, I don't think there's much call for that type of edit for the vintage types of images you are working with. If it's of any value to you, I've rarely, if ever, had a customer request a complete change in background.
Since this is something you love to do, perhaps your talents would be better suited to more modern images. If you like working with vintage images, a better way to go might be the opposite of what you're doing now; retouch to remove, or subdue, cluttered backgrounds so that the people in the images are the focus of the photograph.
Just my thoughts.

Re: To show what I love to do.

Trudy, what a wonderful idea. I wish you success with your website. One suggestion: remove the frames from the pictures. I have a dial-up connection and they took forever to load. I got a cup of coffee and when I returned it was still loading. Anyone with a slow connection will not wait for your pages to finish loading.

Good Luck!

Re: To show what I love to do.

Hi Vikki,

It's true that the images are small, the only way to put big images would be to cut down on how many pages i have since my website space is limited. As for the background changes, there might be many on my site, but I only change them if the person wants it, otherwise I leave the original. I've got hundreds of photos that I've retouched and I guess I could show more that have less drastic changes. I change the pictures from time to time so next time I will put some different kind, and I will use bigger images on the link site.
Thank you for your critiques
Have a nice day
Trudy

Re: To show what I love to do.

Hi cybership,
I very rarely use photoshop to retouch photos. I use Microsoft Digital Image suite and a different program to color black and white photos.

Trudy,
I enjoyed seeing your talented work. I use Microsoft Digital Image Pro and I like it much better than Photoshop. I don't see what all the hype is with Photoshop!

Photoshop set the standard for all digital editors that followed. You'll probably never understand the "hype" unless you work in a professional environment with high end output needs and a work flow that calls for integration with various media. I'm not saying this to sound snooty, but there is much more to digital manipulation than you may realize.
