Talking First restore from a slide

This is my first serious attempt at trying to restore an image like this. The original shot was from a slide, and it seemed very over exposed, faded and colour cast… a great combination to start with.

I mostly used a lot of layers to try to even the exposure, bring out the detail and add a little bit of new colour into it. There was also a lot of cloning, stamping to reduce the dust and scratches.

I tried to keep the picture looking “natural” without being too processed. I’d really appreciate any feedback on this effort. Is it enough? Too much? Is there anything you think should still be done? Anything you’d have done differently?

Thanks in advance.

I really like how you brought out the detail! Well done. I desaturated the blue some and shifted the green a little toward yellow.

Thanks all, I appreciate your feedback! This was certainly a fun challenge to begin with.

skydog: I'm using a Canoscan 8600F.
