Re: critique please

Could we see the before photo?
the first thing that stirkes me are her eyes, they seem to be small, maybe it is the eyelashes you added? Also work on her eyebrows they need more definition.
You did a nice job that is not over done.

Re: critique please

Sorry Out of Focus, but the skin looks very uneven to me and her eyes look as if she is looking into sunlight

Re: critique please

hi,
nice looking picture wish could see the orginal.... on this beauty photo contest.... are they looking for a protrait type photo's or natual.. make a difference on what direction your going...
Now I am novice but a couple of things I noticed...
1. eyes.. seems like there alittle red eye there.... which is distracting probably caused by the camera flash or looking into the sun....
2. the eyebrows.. i thought the eybrows could be a little more pronouced.. maybe the burn tool would work here...
3. on the neck.... on the picture there appears to be 2 slight curved long obvious lighter lines starting in the neck area, maybe going into the cheek are maybe caused by some reflection...
4. may want to look at eliminating some of the stray hairs... although the pro's definitely give better thoughts on that....
5. the splotchy or uneveness of the skin... noticed that too... not sure if that in the orginal or cause by the resizing and compressing of the picture...

well those are my thoughts....

Re: critique please

the contest can have either natural or glamour.

I did try to put eye lashes on but that is the frist time I ever done that and want to see what people thought.

we were out side in harsh sun light and she was standing in what little shade we could find.

I know that location and lighting are important but we just didn't have it and didn't have time to go find it.

this pic was raw converted with pscs2 no editing

Thanks OoF

Re: critique please

The lines on her neck really stood out to me. If you decide to go with the glamour look then you will need to smooth and soften the skin a lot more.

Re: critique please

Thanks for putting up the orginal.
I had a go at glamorizing her.
Mainly I enlarged her eyes 5% and used a lot of dodge and burn to smooth out the skin and to change the contours like you do with makeup.

Re: critique please

My feeble attempt. I'll list what I can remember. Not necessarily in this order...

1. Removed blemishes.
2. Burned light streaks on neck.
3. De-grunged skin.
4. Tweezed and burned eyebrows and burned eyelashes.
5. Saturated lips.
6. Saturated and lightened irises, replaced pin-hole pupils with larger ones and added new highlights to eyes.
7. Slightly whitened whites of the eyes and used selective color to lessen the red under the eyes.
8. Burned shadows in hair.
9. Cropped.

I like how you do the eyes but something bothers me check out the left cheek, the lower portion of her ears its kinda dark it looks the girl has little bruise on her face.

Hi Mchilly,
I over did it on the burn tool there. Thanks for pointing that out.

Re: critique please

ok i wish i had original version to show what i would do.

You got to remember that this girl is using her image for a beauty contest. If i remember reading correctly. SO you cant go and blow up her eyes and all that!!! its not a nip and tuck episode!!! Doing that will hurt her compition cus she dont look that way in real life. So what do you do? What a make up artist would do, Give her a fuller looking eye with "makup" and fake eyelashes. Just make shure you edit the photo to look like somthing that can be done in real life. Learn how to pute makeup on real people. It will help when editing photos using adobe

1. gave girl what they call "smokey eye" makup on her eyes. This makes them look biger with out making a biger eye. Look up smokey eye on utube to learn how makeup artist do this
2: Fixed lens distortion, this helps bring her face into purportion better. Cameras always have some lens distortion to them
3: Fixed shadow areas on face
4: darker lipstick
5: croped image in to bring the eyes and face the main subject.

Re: critique please

I think everybody's over-done the eyes. They look like video-game-heroine eyes.

If that's what you're going for, that's cool. But if that was my sister, I'd think it was a bit over-the-top.

yes, and the one thing I like to see in model's eyes are catch lights at 11am or 1pm. although that isn't always possible from the camera, the retoucher can fix that quite easily
