second upload, whats up

A long night of good photos, still working with only one flash limits me, but tell me what you think.

Hi Nam,

On my monitor it looks way too dark. Have you got the original handy ?

If the shoe sole is the point of the image, perhaps you could have made that stand out more, lighten it.

Re: second upload, whats up

I honestly don't know how to explain it, but I really like this! There is only two minor issue to me, and one is the annoying little pot-light right behind the fellows head... and the other being that if this were an add for Nike, they would probably want to see their logo right side up :P

I'd love to hear how you went about getting this particular look. Care to share?

Re: second upload, whats up

Thank you, and I totally agree that that dumb light is really annoying, bad judgment on my part, i was hoping the 200 shutter speed would make it dimmer. Haha also about the nike sign, yeah thats a good idea, but it was just awkward holding it the other way. One more thing I hate is the single light set up I have, I wish I could have lit the other side; looking into studio strobes.

As for the post production, I guess its just really looking the picture and doing alot of handy work on the tablet. First a blank layer and paint brush to remove minor blemishes, (not too heavy on male faces). Lots of painting, not D n B, 50% gray later with soft light blend. Then Curve adjustments layer for color. Another curve adjustments layer for contrast. Black and white adjustment layer on soft light blend and low opacity for more contrast, I like using the black and white for that because I can adjust each color as you would for a black and white. And the final USM. But everything I try to do is really in the painting, for those dramatic effects, darker in lower areas, lighter in high areas. Of course when I do recieve studio lights, hopefully within the next month, my photos can have a more technical aspect.

=)
