Re: Portrait Black girl retouch.

Her skin looks really good. Nice job.

You might want to try bringing out the color/highlight in her eyes a little, but what you have there looks complete to me.

Re: Portrait Black girl retouch.

That skin is a tough one to deal with, nice job cleaning it up though. A few things I noticed: She's got a mustache in profile on the right side of her mouth that looks sharper in your refined version. The skin discoloration between her eyebrows looks almost like a bruise. Finally, there's a streak of short hair growth down the right side of the head I would heal on out of there. Nice retouch though.

Re: Portrait Black girl retouch.

Keep in mind, this is just my opinion. That said, I think you may have placed too much emphasis on skin texture. There is a fine line between too smooth and too course as far as skin texture is concerned.

I thought I was the odd man out until I saw LQQKER's post. I too think the skin texture is overdone. More like orange peel texture than skin, I'd back it off some.

Re: Portrait Black girl retouch.

Hey,
Thinking back to some of your earlier posts, I think you did very well with this one. Keep in mind the items mentioned previous (hair on lip, hair on her right forehead, orange peel texture) and I think it would look better. You know, critiquing is hard without knowing what your goals were and (if it were a client) what a client may ask for or need. You could be right about the heavy skin texture in some cases. Most of us are simply used to the softer approach. I think especially around the eyes. While I can tolerate the texture elsewhere, the eyes just look funny with a harsh texture.

Anyway, good job and you're really coming along.
Thanks for posting this one !
