| I made my own waterdress.what do you think? My name is Rob McGrory, I've been reading through these forums for a while but never really posted much. Hopefull this will now change. I was just hoping I could get some feedback for a recent image I have been working on. My inspiration came from seeing Gisele's water dress. And instantly thinking how did they do that! I want to have a go! So I did, photography and retouching by myself. I must of taken close to 700 shots of splashing water against a brick wall outside my studio and about 25 - 30 hours of photoshop. 100% real shots, no CGI 3D clever work going on here. The difficult part was removing the brick work while keeping the feel of the water. Each section of water is made up o at least 4 layers with different lighting blends. Hope you like it. | Re: I made my own waterdress.what do you think? Hi Firt of all, great job! I felt exactly the same the first time I saw Giselle's dress , how did they manage to? Despite I haven't got to any result as you did, I've been trying to capture fliuds movement for a similar attempt. The image looks really good to me and I would only point out some reflections in the water that in my opnion don't fit as they should. For the rest the shaping of the dress is ok (and I imagine how much work it took to take those splashes) I would also try to cover her a bit more with water texture and do some retouching and colour correction in her skin which I feel will help to the general effect. Thanks for sharing this work! Really liked it. |

| Re: I made my own waterdress.what do you think? Yup, that photographing water splashing on a wall just never gets old does it? Great job with the dress. Only thing I would change is the water over the breasts looks a little plastic. Or did you do that just for the post here? I'd be really interested to see your psd if you wouldn't mind sharing. I'd like to be able to do something like this and I have no clue where to start. |

| Re: I made my own waterdress.what do you think? Rob, First, welcome and keep posting. I like the overall composite. I agree with Chiqui that the dress could be refined a bit more.... reflections, density... the focus is not shared between the two major elements... the model and the dress. Most is on the model. If that is the intent, then it's fine. But, I would think you'd want to have equal focus for such an effect. Thanks for sharing with us ! |
