Just want some thoughts

Wanted some thoughts on this image. Didnt know whare to post it so i thought I would give critics a try. Call it summertime blues. He wanted to play softball with the adults but could not.

I think you captured a nice image. It most certainly has merit. I'll list just a few thoughts that you may want to consider from my perspective. As always these are subjective.

I think adding a bit more picture emphasizes the small child. I changed the crop, straightened, darkened the edges, increased the overall tonality, added some grain and keeping with your original thought adding a hint of color.

Thanks for the responce. Thats why I like this site. You get so many perspectives on your images and you keep learning. I croped it like I did cause I was distracted by my camera bag and the metal in the back ground. I think your crop is better. I tried all sorts of differant tones and differant black and white contrast but it didnt bring my son Paige out. Thats why I added a little color back in. Thanks for your imput

First off it's a great photo, his expression is fantastic!

For me i think B&W works well on this. Again it's just my opinion. I think this is certainly one of those photos where many people will be split as to what works best, colour, desat, B&W, duotone etc. I don't think there's a right answer. It's just what you prefer.

Yes, a touching photo. Reminds me of my childhood spent in the shadow of a brother five years my senior.....too young and sitting on the sidelines. But I digress.....

All version are good but I prefer black and white but without the soft focus. One thing that really sticks out in my mind is the horrible water bottle. Maybe grab your clone tool and make it go away. It really detract from the image.

Thanks for your responce. All versions look good. Even the water one. Sorry took me so long to responed back just had a bad day yesterday. The wife likes the origanal photo and she usaly wins everytime. But I did take out the water bottle just to see what it would look like.

one comment, though, he has a bit of a halo around his head and body which is distracting to the eye.
