Another backstage model Critiques please! Second full D&B retouch, went for the look you find in hair saloons, clean photo with crazy hair colours.

Re: Another backstage model Wow, very nice work. I'm just a beginner myself, so I'm afraid I was unable to find faults. Sorry! On the other had, I was really impressed with your correction. Great D&B contouring, top notch. Great background color to compliment her hair and makeup. Professional grade from what I can tell with the moderately small image. *thumbs up*

Re: Another backstage model Thanks for the reply. As no one else seems to want to comment the previous retouch, I'll try with this one. Did some color correction, reshaping of chin and nose and loooooots of D&B. What should/could I do better/differently?

Re: Another backstage model I 'm not the type to critique and I think you are going in the right direction cleaning up the picture and all. The last picture has few white spots on the chest. The face color I don't think is matching the neck and chest The red in the cheeks is in the wrong place and the catch light is stronger in her right eye then the left eye.

Re: Another backstage model Beautiful work once again with the retouch, but I wouldn't change the shirt and the eye-shadow to the same color, unless that's part of the ad campaign or something. Generally, people who don't have makeup experience make clothes and eyeshadow the same color, especially girls on prom night.

Re: Another backstage model I just want to clarify. The red was pretty terrible looking with green being a clear improvement. I think a smokey-grey purple would bring out the makeup a little more, without competing for attention. Last edited by mikedimples; 12-25-2008 at 05:50 PM. Reason: typo

Re: Another backstage model Thought everyone would know by now, but it's dean@enigma-photos.com's photo. Says himself to "Please feel free to download and practice on this image". As I'd like some feedback, I show it here, I do not intend to use it anywhere else. (And I read somewhere on this forum there's a virus on that web page, so if you could remove the link?)

Re: Another backstage model Anneke, no bad feelings, but sometimes people come up with pics not knowing that there is a copyright attached. I have removed the link. Thanks for the info

Re: Another backstage model I'm looking at the first set of pictures. Just looking at the after, I would have assumed you'd used a gel on the lights to get that highlight in her hair - that's a very nice touch. You've done a great job making it look the pix in the hair style books. I also like the touchup you did around her mouth. I don't know that I would change anything - very nice work, and I hope to move up to your level.

Re: Another backstage model Congratulations Anneke !! looking at the first set, I would say its slightly overdone. Specially over her right cheek and chin areas. I feel like she's wearing a mask. Actually, I feel the same way looking at the original. It's a matter of taste, but I would further burn her cheek and chin in order to get some depth... Otherwise, it's a really good job. How long did it take? On the second set, I would stick with your first feeling about the color of the shirt. Good job!

Re: Another backstage model First set- I wouldn't have removed all of her freckles. If anything I would have slightly accentuated them. Makes the portrait that much more interesting. Also the color on the hair seems too washed out. Brutal honesty: It doesn't look 'crazy.' It looks like 'crazy' after she'd washed her hair everyday for two weeks after the color job. I also probably would have tried to bump up the colors in her eyes, especially the hazel/orangish tints right around her pupils. That bump in color plus her freckles plus the red hues in her hair might have made all of them really pop.
