Hi all !

Here is the final result of one of my latest job, assisted by j.kemp. No before-after here since it's entirely Computer Generated.

We had to make an aggressive yet "family oriented" image. The image had to support a square and a 14:6 cropping. Rendered 14k by 14k, using Cinema4d and Vue6 xstream.


What are your feelings about the composite? Is it photorealistic enough to you? What would you do differently ? What would you change? What would you add in the background/foreground ?

It looks real in a since but as a photographer I can’t believe this is one picture. I say this because getting the sky and cars exposed right plus the sharpness and the fact that all the cars a driving. Plus the long exposure to blur the road.

I really like it though, the tilt ads a lot and the blurred gravel is a nice touch. Great attention to detail, reflection of the sunset in the back windows. I could see this being a great add or brochure. The average person would not think fake.

You're totally right igot2pman!

The cars are too sharp. Even though such a sharpness is possible in theory (camera rigged on a car driving at the exact same speed of all the other cars), it's practically impossible and look kinda fake to me too. Let's say this image would have look a lot more real if we didn't had to meet some of the Art Director's demand. On the other hand, the guy brought a few good ideas, and we wouldn't had enough budget to do this image just for our own portfolio anyway... We'll surely print an alternate version with raytraced motion blur applied to the cars for our portfolio !

I'd say the almost totally black front windows would make it slightly difficult to drive...

The shadows should come from one point.

I think you did a fine job, after all, it's the vechicles that are showcased. The contrast displays the car nicely, however, I do think the shadows are a bit elongnated for my taste. Perhaps a little less bottom frame would add to the composition. The tilt seems fine.
