I could use some crit please

I decided to sit down and put some effort into a fairly messy image. I think it came out well although the more I look at it the more I see gaps in her hair in the upper left. Oh well..

Thanks!

Re: How about some crit

I like what you have done for the most part here.

The hair addition was well done and the wrinkle removal was good. Eye's look near perfect.

But i like the original color of the BG and i think you lost apart of her skintone personality. Its not a bad color, but its not close to or original. And watch your sharpening, Halo's are present.

Good job,
-Keven

Thanks for the reply and kind words. The grey background in the final image is pretty much exactly correct. I will agree that her skin tone might be a bit warm. I didn't add any sharpening AFAIR, where are you seeing ringing? I have looked at it too much

Re: How about some crit

The Halo's i am talking about are from over sharpening, but they could also be flash hilights that are individual hairs.

What kind of camera are you using? If you getting that kind of sharpness from the start, must be some good stuff.

D2X. That was shot with an older 28-105 3.5 as well. very sharp portrait lens with killer bokeh.

Re: How about some crit

I would have left a hint of shape and shadow under the eyes - it just looks too weird and flat to me.

Also, I'd whiten the whites of the eyes just a teeny bit - they look a bit red, which is odd in the context of such perfect skin and teeth.

Nice job, though.

Small-ish thing, you've filled out the hairs nicely, but the shape you've given the hair near her neck downward is very very straight and looks artificial.

Hey thanks for the notes and kudos! I eyeballed your demo page on your site, good work.

Under eyes: yeah, maybe a bit heavy. The full sized image shows more detail than this little one, but I get your meaning.

Eyes: again, yeah I might have set the opacity a bit low on the eye whitening, but the full size image looked creepy much lighter. Probably needed to use a different color to set the mask.

I will probably revisit the file later this weekend and work on your suggestions.

Thanks! yes, i agree with that. Most of the dark is just burning in. It was just a mess in there. I was doing this as a proof, but maybe should have given myself an easier time.

Sorry, my comment wasn't quite clear. I don't think the eyes necessarily need to much lighter, just slightly more neutral.
