Critique my Beauty Retouch

Hi all,

just finished a beauty retouch and think ive done a pretty decent job this time. was wondering if you could take a look and let me know if you can see anything that needs improving or anything i might have done wrong.

This is as much"mistakes"I could find.On some areas the skin texture is to soft or to sharp.

I think you did a wonderful job! There are only a few minor errors but they are extremely minimal.

The left cheek has what looks like lack of texture in some places.

Why would you get rid of the face gold but not the chest? I like what how you made her pail, but i think the gold on the face would have added a new dimension to the image.

I'm a little confused. The original looks fully retouched, except for the bad-looking glitter and the blown out glitter highlights (is that what those white spots are?). What's the story with this picture? It's a beautiful photograph and retouch job, don't get me wrong. I just don't understand. Did the photographer come to you because he was unhappy with the previous retoucher's work?

Hey all, and thanks to the people who have replied.

Aleksman71: thanks for the help, i've just made all those changes an updated the image. Let me know what you think of the changes.

tdh: thanks for the kind words.

igot2pman: im not sure why it would look like there's lack of texture on the cheek as i didn't blur it at all. I got rid of the face gold and left it on the neck because i was going to crop it just to show the face but i have gone back and taken all the glitter off her neck now.

mikedimples: no he didnt come to me because he was unhappy with his last version, i saw the pic on his site and asked him if i could use it to retouch and put it my portfolio. i agree the photo was fine how it was and i really liked it but i wanted to use it because i thought i could remove the glitter and the uneven makeup on her cheeks and for head to show my retouching ability.

anyway i've made a few more changes so let me know what you think now.

I did some additional retouching,just to show you image from different perspective.

A picture is worth a thousand words,so here is it.I didnt like blemish,so I remove it.I added some shadows and softened the whole skin.

Heading in the right direction - the specular highlight on her face is too broad - there is too much of it. An overall reshape of the jawline, and thickening the neck is whats needed. Also look at the shape of the eyebrows

Very good work... I do think you could have shown your techniques better by retouching the skin and maintaining the gold of the make up in the forehead, cheek and chest... if this were actually a job the MUA would hunt u down and kill u for doing what did

It is pretty good but I can still see a lot of light spots from from your cloning. Burn down those little spots and you have got it man. Maybe a touch of contrast would not hurt either. Good Luck!
