Some retouch/color restoration/adding

These were done almost a year ago for my digital imaging course.

The first is a picture of my grandfather, which I retouched and colored to the best of my ability (circa 1920/30?). Unfortunately he passed away before I was able to show him this, but my father put together a photobook and was kind enough to include this image for the family.

The second was a photograph taken by my father in what I believe is virginia. He's a professional photographer, so unfortunately these images cannot be used as stock/by anyone else.

They're a little big to upload to the forum, and it's 3:30 AM right now so I'm going to be a little lazy

I especially like the scene of the mill. You did a very good job of colorizing that one. There is an interesting amount of grain in it from the original film I suppose. I think you did good to leave that in also.

The one of your father is also good. You may want to revisit it with some tweaks to the color and clarity. There is an odd hint of green in the blacks and browns... and all over.

You may want to look into the story behind the image. The plane in the back looks like a private plane from the Lubrizol Corporation. Was you father working for them as a photographer ? It could make for a good story.

Yeah it was very difficult to get the color correct, as it was shot in the 30s. And no my father did not take that picture, that is of my grandfather. And yes, he was chief pilot for the Lubrizol Corporation

I really liked the mill, so gave it some time colorizing. Lots of detail could still be done yet.
