Re: Dolly Girl - Can u give me some comments?

I LOVE this kind of creative thread. Thanks Irene! The best tip I can give you about projects like these is to look up plenty of references first. What makes a doll look like a doll? I looked at tons of images, then went to work, incorporating the best parts from each reference.

This kind of retouch is essentially digitally painting, and should be treated as such.

Is it starting to look like that pageant thread in here or is it just me?

Hi,

first.. I love dolls... especially the antique ones.

A good way to get that porcelain doll look is.. to use one of the plugins of Xero, they have a lovely porcelain plugin.

Succes

Hello Irene,

I just saw you reply but i also saw that the answer was already given which is ok.
Xero has some marvellous free plugins. I also would recommand, Clarity, Radiance and Skycleaner for some extra fine-tuning if that is necessary, in a project such as this.
Good luck and I am looking forward to the results.

I think she already looks like an exquisite doll! The background although interesting seems to me to be a distraction, especially the parts over the arm, unless those are supposed to represent reflections off glass

The only suggestions I would have for more of a doll look are:
one or two Screen layers for the Iris of the eyes, sharpen the Irises, Burn Shadows on the pupils to darken,
Clean the whites of the eyes on another layer
soften nostril holes to look more doll like
fix teeth

Sample is below, let me know if you want me to remove it

Re: Dolly Girl - Can u give me some comments?

Hi, grannysdc, thanks for your comments.

Yes, I agree that the background is a bit distracting. Thought i want to create some lightening objects for the image. But, the arrangement is not good.

I like the eyes you made very much. They looks like jewellry eyes and very nice. Softening her nostril holes and fixing the teeth make her looks like a doll and more perfect too. But, (just my own preference) maybe i still won't soften the nostril holes too much, as i want her to look like a "lively" doll. (<--- i think i'm a bit odd in this point.. ha..)

Thanks for your suggestions. ^^...
