my first post, all comments are welcome

I have been using photoshop for a minute (9 years), but I mostly been in the closet. I am trying to break into the retouching biz. I have tried to apply to some agency but they tell me my samples are to artsy. so I decided to do a beauty retouching sample. it is my first one ever

hey well here it goes. I have a disclamer. this is a basic retouch.
I haven't tried to connect model to scene by adding contact shadows
to her feet. at this point I was more concerned with the color correcting
and body reshaping. every is good until model is place on black there is a
slight ghosting on stray hairs I was wondering if someone could tell how to correct this problem.

ok, I finally decided to put a background and rebulid the shadows from original
picture. This is my own personal interpretation of the photograph. the first post was basic because the client wanted just the model and nothing else. of course, I got tired of such a boring picture as a whole. So I decided to make a comp based on theme of photo, without throwing in my own crazy or creative Ideas. I included the before and after

thank ya. This kinda of image is really not my type of thing, but I figure I better start learning how to keep to basic themes and not make people look plastic. I learned alot doing this image, especially skin smoothing concepts. Least you did write "drama" (LOL).
again I am sorry for taking that comment out of context

Re: my first post, all comments are welcome

I see quite a few areas where the second image could be improved:

The horizon line should be lower, the color balance of the woman needs to be matched with the background, her shadow isn't following the ground plane, and the lighting of the background is coming from behind the model but she's lit from the front.

Do you have a larger version of the image you can link to? It's hard to see how you handled the hair extraction in the small version.
