Body manip / close up skin improvements (new here)

Hey guys!

Just getting into DI. I'm really quite happy I found this forum, it seems like a healthy place to be. I'm just starting to attempt to get hired and I'm making some items for my portfolio. If possible i'd like some good honest crits of this stuff. These took me quite a while but should be much faster when I get my new computer!

Skin cleaned, face changed with liquify, hair holes filled in, lips puckered etc

Models legs thinned (heaps), makeup applied, cheeks thinned, tones + colors adjusted

Seeing these side by side makes the changes alot harder to pick, but have a look. Any comments and crits much appreciated.

Also advice on entering the job market would be fantastic. So far i've gotten an interview at one agency and have a few more in the coming weeks. Any tips? Rough salary amount i should ask? Most common beginners mistake?

Thanks heaps guys

Cheers
J

Just realised alot of detail gets lost at a small size - here's a larger version.

J,
Sorry the feedback has been slow. Sometimes it's just that way.

The images are a bit low in resolution to critique. At 72 dpi, plus the jpeg compression, much of the skin is impossible to judge. However, I could tell you went after some of the more obvious areas to retouch.

Here are a few other areas that stood out to me on the first image.
1.) The bridge of the nose gives the appearance of being a bit puffy, like a boxer.
2.) Her right brow has some distracting discoloration below it, and seems to be lacking a little above.
3.) Her left brow had some odd discoloration above it as well.

While a creative artist would normally tell you what to fix, your portfolio should demonstrate consistent ability to fix a number of issues. So, don't get caught up on whether or not you found all the little areas that need fixing. Just show you can correct them.

Great critique Tommy, but DPI doesn't matter for the web. 1DPI or 1,000DPI would look exactly the same until printed.

Here's a 72 DPI pic:
