Beauty retouch

Hello guys,

it's about my fifth work with high-end technique and fifth try with D&B ever, so I'd like you to point out any mistakes I've done or what I didn't do and should have.

What I did:
- removed imperfections
- removed any unnecessary hair
- fixed her nose, chin, ear, hat, body (liquify)
- fixed her hat (destroyed part)
- shaped her body with D&B
- emphasized her mouth, eye
- changed skin tone
- added contrast with curves, levels...

Photography is the property of CMS. I do not allow to use it in any way.

Sorry for such a small picture but I'm afraid of breaking copyrights.
If any other close-up is needed, tell me.

Thank you in advance for all your critiques.

Re: Beauty retouch

Looks really good.
I don't know much about retouching yet so i can't get into details or give any suggestions as you're way past me in skills.

Re: Beauty retouch

The skin looks nice, but the background is a poor choice. The lighting is nowhere close to matching. You did a great job masking out the transparency of the hat, except I can see through the top of her head!

Fix the background and her head and I think you could have a good image on your hands.

Re: Beauty retouch

Thank you silLent and David for your opinions. Few words from other people always can give you an idea of what you should focus on and what to do more carefully.

Frankly, I added some background just for fun and because I thought white was a bit boring. It was a matter of 2 mins maybe. So I'm aware that it was poorly chosen and done. But thank you for pointing that out.

But besides that, don't you think that skin is a little too much yellow? I know it's a matter of taste and I like how it is anyway, but I'm always trying to get it even better. What do you think about that?

Thank you once more for your opinions,

Re: Beauty retouch

nice work! typically D+B is not exclusively used for skin work, but you appear to have worked it well. I agree about the mask..realllly nice start in some areas but as it goes from right to left you can see through her head and the hat loses parts. FINISH IT OFF! the skin may look yellow because of the background. in the original the skin looked a bit red so you might find against a more suitable BG the skin may actually look better and more appropriate.

The background does take from the lady - Had you blurred it a bit more and adjusted the lighting the work would have been much better

Re: Beauty retouch

Aside from the background being visible in the top of her head, it should also be flipped horizontally. The light source on the background is coming from the left side, on the girl it's from the right.

IMO, I think it'll look classier without the background.
