Please critique...

This is my first time posting but I have around 10 year experience with Photoshop. I have just started doing restorations, for fun, about 6 months ago so this is a new challenge.

For this image I was asked for remove the grandfather and put him by himself. As you can see in the first image I put in a different background to add some realism to the image. When I used just a plain backdrop like the one in the original image, it looked too fake.

Anyway, please let me know what you think and where I could improve. My cousin loved the image though if I had more time I think I could have worked it more.

I'm impressed. This looks really good. My only criticism is there seems to be larger grain on his face than in the background. Nice work.

Thanks! I honestly didn't catch that. I was so concerned with the rest of him I didn't even pay attention to his face.

Can I ask if he looks cut and pasted into the backdrop? I tried to blur his edges a bit to help him blend in but at times he still looks pasted.

You did a very good job, I don't think he looks cut and paste. He seems to fit in really well.

you have done a really great job on this. The only thing i would suggest is toning down the brightness of his face or brightening the background so that the light sources will match and run smoothly
