Beauty Retouch

This is the first image I've posted in here for critique. I feel as though I have mid level retouching experience. I'm trying to get into the tight niche high-end retouchers world but it's proving harder than I thought it would be.

I shot this with 1 light and a reflector. The retouch took about 4 hrs. I use techniques learned from a ton a of people; Natalia (GodMother) having the most influence on me thus far.

Here's the pic.

Re: Beauty Retouch

1. to much facial hair ( green)
2. hair on the neck
3. isolation is not so good: top of the hair looks funny - try to fill the blank spots with hair
3. skin not full retouch on chin (blue) and forehead
4. left shoulder is in perfect focus ( from that sharp edge) and back of the head (right shoulder) is soft - in before version both are equal sharp
also pink area is very sharp - and hair in back of the head is soft
you have to decide and use constant sharpness on the edge
A quick fix will be to blur the sharp edge.
5. hair is not perfect - i can see white spots and also in red area is to little hair
6. her left eye glows to much light on that darkness
7. teeth are too white.
8. in original picture the amount of light in face/left shoulder/right breast are almost equal - balanced/very natural way.
You increase highlights too much and right part of the face is glowing.
The difference from highlights to shadow is too big.
Nose shadow is not very pleasant for the eye.
Just one flash and reflector does not provide enough light in the dark side of the face.
9. maybe remove the shine/oil from right
10. ear is plastic, looks fake - too much yellow/shine - no color/life/red in that piece of flash.

I hope you understand what i write. My English is not very good.

Re: Beauty Retouch

I'll just comment on the numbered points you made.

1) I agree about the facial hair / sideburns. I actually removed what I thought would be enough but I see that I could probably remove more.
2) I agree.
3) I agree, I missed that spot.
3 again) I disagree, the full face was retouched. I think the resizing of the image is causing it to look that way.
4) I can't tell, nothing was done in terms of sharpening to one side of the image that wasn't done to the other. The falloff in sharpness if any is most likely due to DOF but like I mentioned earlier, I don't see it.
5) I agree about the too little hair near the top of the head. I missed that.
6) ???
7) ???
8) I agree about the hotspot on her cheek but it's there in the original image too. I thought about knocking it down a bit but when I did her cheek looked flat to me. You're right about the nose shadow it is distracting and moving the reflector in closer and more center would have helped with that. Overall the shadow to highlight falloff is how I was hoping to get it.
9) See second sentence in #8
10) You're right about the ear it does look lifeless.

Re: Beauty Retouch

6. her left eye is in shadow and right is in main light.
You can not have to similar objects with different light condition and same brightness.
The difference from brightness in left/right eyes and lightening condition are not proportional.
Left eye receive light also from flash.
7. you are right - teeth are ok - sorry.

I will darken a little the left eyelash also and make eyebrows constant in color/brightness.

Re: Beauty Retouch

Might I add that her forehead on the right side (her right side) looks extremely flat. A bit of shading might help.

Also I think the image is nice, but there's no real mood to it. Maybe play with the mood a little and then it'll be a little more interesting.
