Portrait critique needed

Please be as creative as you can be

I think i will not meet the required size so I would prefer to post a link. Portrait was taken with ambient light only, but my main concern was retouching. I'm finding frequency separation a bit lacking when skin smoothing is concerned, but still I'd like your opinion. Did I go in right direction? I'm still a beginner as a retoucher, so any comments would be apreciated.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Re: Portrait critique needed

Tom, please accept a belated Welcome to RetouchPRO ! Hope you enjoy your stay here and make lots of friends.

To me the photo is either very soft or is out of focus (Might be due to compression though)

Nonetheless the face and hair look almost blurred compared to her shorts

I circled a few things that stood out to me and could stand a bit more work

In my opinion, even if you are going for soft skin the rest of the areas like hair, eyes, lips, fingernails, etc... should be sharp

If you use Photoshop you can post fairly large pictures which are under 100k using the 'save for web' function in Photoshop as described here:

Size, Quality and/or Format your Attached Images.. (Click here)

How to attach Files/Images to your Posts or Threads:

If you want to post a larger resolution that is over 100K then you can host your image elsewhere and attach a link in the thread (like you did here), but also please attach an under 100K version (so the thread remains useful in the future, regardless of external links).

Re: Portrait critique needed

Thank you for the info. I may post a link to a full size image to give you more insight, the before and after version I mean, and thank you for the tip on "save for web" thingy. I post usualy just resize my photos to fit forum-specified top size requirements and I'm not used to "kB" requirement as this one or just print them as they come.

I've spend quite a long time on this forum following most of the photoretouching discusions before I decided to post anything, so indeed I really enjoy it and ask kindly for more
