First post, Critique greatly appreciated...

Hi all Since this is my first post I thought I should say a little about myself. My name is Melanie, and I have been working with photoshop for about 10 years now. I had my own photography business for about 5 years, but closed shop (not making enough to live off of) but still do photography for myself, and close friends and family, as a hobby. I loved having my business, and I love photography, but I think what I enjoy most is photoshop. Even though I've used it for a decade, I am still learning new things all the time...which is good, I love to learn. Anyway, I am practicing doing photo restoration, and would love to start my own restoration (retouching too) business someday, or do freelance work for others. So as of now I am basically on the long road of portfolio building. A friend of my sister emailed me a scan of a very old tin type photograph. It was really bad, I wasn't even sure if I could fix it. But, after hours and hours of meticulous work, I think it turned out decent. I would love to see what you all think. Let me know if you would be happy with this, as a client, and if not, what could I do to make it better? Thank you all in advance!

Wow all these views and no replies....I think you've done a good job the only critique I have is the faces need more shading the older childs face looks a little flat.... the best way would be to hand paint the shadows in....personally I would have left the colour tone in the pic but that's just a personal choice I love the yellowed old picture look...sepia tone I believe ...are you using a tablet for PhotoShop? If not I highly recommend it as it makes this type of work so much easier

Agreed with Luciachan. I'm impressed with this restoration. I'm sure that took a good amount of work and it paid off.

Thank you both for your replies, I really appreciate them. Yes, I am using a tablet, I couldn't imagine doing a restore like this without one! That would take some major dedication. lol Thanks again.

I think you have done a very good job.
I agree about the older child.
The man's eyes do not look right.
Too much darkness around the eye.__ almost like eye liner___
I would do it more like this. A softer lighter look.
