Re: Some opinions about this retouch

I like the direction, but it doesn't feel finished. Also the cross eyed look is distracting for me.

I agree, it's a solid job so far, but the cross eyes is proving to be very distracting.

Re: Some opinions about this retouch

I can see what you're doing, and I suggested some of it. It looks weird here though. Cheeks and eyes don't really look like that, and it's very easy to get them wrong. I suggest reference material before you post the results. I would also click the work on and off when you finish to see if you made something look strange with respect to the original.

It's also pretty dark. I wonder if your display's brightness is cranked up high and throwing your eyes off, because you always make things dark and high in contrast for whatever reason.

Re: Some opinions about this retouch

Hi all,
thanks for your reply.

What do you mean by cross eyes?
Klev, thanks for your reply, I can post the original photo if you want.
I would like to try to retouch like this photographer: https://www.facebook.com/jeannoirphotography.de/
Dark skin...
I try this on Lightroom and after I have continuated in Photoshop.
You can see the original photo here :

I would like a few desaturation on the face, soft retouch.
I don't have a calibrated screen in my laptop.
Thanks and sorry for my bad english

Re: Some opinions about this retouch

Evening out the color of the skin would improve it a great deal.

Thanks Skoobey,
I think my computer isn't calibrated, I see the colours desaturated, I think it's different from you... You see with a lot of contrast/saturated.

Sometimes it can appear that a models eyes are crossed i.e. out of alignment not looking in exactly the same direction.

As a quick example moved the models left eye more to her left bottom example. It may look better moving the right eye a little more to the right

I think yours is fairly desaturated as you intended. I thought some of your adjustments were a little different, but it puzzles me why you darkened some of that skin around here upper cheek and lower eyelid. It's not a place where you would naturally find a shadow.

I would probably not do it exactly like this. Maybe I'll do another bit of reference but not tonight.

Ah laptop screens can be a little wonky at times. Looking at it on a calibrated external display hooked up to mine, it looks dark. Everything kind of gets lost in the shadows of that shirt.

Re: Some opinions about this retouch

I agree on the Right Eye position.

The center of the right iris is a couple of clicks too far left of the center.

I would use the Liquify tool to fix it up... as the previous poster has shown. I think his example is a good one and fixes up the problem for me too. I would put a freeze mask over the Liquify image...to freeze all around the opening of the eye. (The freeze and the un-freeze tools are near the bottom of the Liquify tool set)

Then... when you take the first main Liquify brush...(I think it may be called the Push brush) you could then just move only the center of the right eye to the right just a little bit... and the rest of the eye would just stay still... because it is temporarily frozen from moving.
