| | | Theme Challenge - Peace In light of recent events and the upcoming season, the theme for this challenge will be “peace”. Quote: Peace
• noun: freedom from disturbance; tranquility
Peace, like charity, begins at home.
--Franklin D. Roosevelt
Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.
--Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Nothing can bring you peace but yourself.
--Ralph Waldo Emerson
Peace is not something you wish for; it's something you make, something you do, something you are, something you give away.
--Robert Fulghum
If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.
--Mother Teresa
| When you've got your entry, attach your file (no URLs, please). We all will still expect some descriptions of how you did it, and you can also include your thoughts about where the idea came from, your creative process, etc.
As always, this Challenge doesn't expire, ever.

| | I thought I'd break in the new forum area. I thought long and hard about images that come to my mind when I think of "peace". This is two of the images combined.
Everything but the leaf is made in PS. First I made a blue-blue/green gradient, then I copied and rotated it and lowered the opacity to 50%. Then I added a noise layer and motion blurred it. Then I ran the glass filter on it. Finally, I added the leaf, a shadow for the leaf, and an overlay layer to dodge some wavey areas. |

| | | Doug. I really like your pic. Being a Canadian I find it especially poignant. I have chosen this pic. Stretch your imagination and see doves in flight with olive branches in the bottom corner. Just a bit of Artistic filter to arrest the flight and suggest the true permanence and desire for peace in the world. |

| | I've always liked pidgeons, I used to look forward to watching them as I ate my lunch, back when I worked in a cubicle.
I'm glad you like the maple leaf, I borrowed it from the Canadian government's site |

| | | Doug,
Thanks for breaking in the new forum. You created a beautiful background. The bright blues are stunning and really make the red leaf standout. I especially like how the leaf seems to be peacefully floating over the blue. Duv,
Nicely done; I really enjoy the freedom of flight this image inspires. It must be very peaceful to soar around the open sky. You know the real reason why birds sing...because they fly!

| | I think I'm developing a theme of my own, here
I found a public-domain picture of a feather, masked it, made a fake sky using PS's Clouds filter.
Believe it or not, my first image evolved from an idea I had about a frog, and this one evolved from an idea about a cat. |

| | | Another wonderful image Doug. You obviously understand the power of thirds in your work.
Cheers
