Thanks Jill. I suppose my diet cola would count as "suds" if I shake it. <g>

Since all the hotels in the Chicago area have unexpected vacancies due to the Cubs collapse (very sad), I'd say the Windy City makes sense now!

Danny, we don't call that a collapse, we just call that the end of another season.

getting together online..

I was reading though the posts looking to see if there was anything about a chatroom, that people from this wonderful site might frequent.
The getting together and meeting is a great idea but as many people pointed out.. hard for some since flying is oh so pricey grrr ~ heheh

Has this site ever tried a live chat hosted here, there .. somewhere ?

maybe a nice little hub on mirc ?

could be interesting if not
as it would be great to have real back and forths with people here

just a thought, and if I some how missed this thought being talked about already.. sorry.

Kissed

oh if the mirc/chat idea hasn't happened.. and theres interest.. I do have time to help with that lots

I am a member of cuworld so I can create a room for anyone to enter. Being able to sign up to enter a room is free, creating private rooms is what paid membership gets me.

Anyone curious can visit www.cuworld.com to see how it works. I would be happy to host a room, it can hold up to 12 people at a time for a 3 hour duration. Not real sure when to do it since there are so many time zones represented here ...

Since I'm the one who had coffee and breakfast with Ed, I must say his coffee and hospitality are first class.

I too could handle Chicago as long as I had plenty of time to plan ahead but then I feel bad for all our friends around the world who would think that too far from them. I have to say, It's a great idea but you would have your hands full trying to pull it off I think. But then I guess if we felt that way nothing would ever come to pass. So far I've met 2 members of RP and both were just as nice in person as they are on the site. We seem to have attracted a nice group of people on this site. Even if this doesn't work out Doug is right that if you are heading near a member you would like to see let them know and set up a place to meet like Ed and I did. You might be pleasingly surprised.

Hey, I know...since we're scattered all over the globe, we could get together the RetouchPro way:

Everyone send in a pic of themselves and we'll all montage them together in a photo of our favorite locale!

Oh, and how about a bumper sticker: "Retouchers do it in layers!"

Perhaps we should set Chicago up as the meetup and see how many folks would attend. Heck...I would be thrilled just to meet one of you.

This is not the best time of year so maybe try for May or June. If any of you are up for it, drop me a line and we'll see what happens. I think that is enough time to make arrangements for a good price and set up some sort of itinerary.

Just a thought....

I'm in the same boat as you Legacy! It would be fantastic to meet up with RetouchPro friends for certain and I wish you all well in your endeavours to get together. I like the montage idea for those not "present" on the date.

Hmm i would really like to meet up. But i have a 12 hour flight just to get to the us..
so if i can get the money i need alot of other things to fit together
i would proberply whant to get to New Tork to shoot alot on location model/fashion shots and so on. But my ps skills would really benefit from it, im sure.
So it all depends on a; can i get the money and b; can i get all the other things like place to stay and so on to fit.
Combined with a conferense about ps would be cool, but maybe also complicatet.

/Lasse

idea?

Reading through the posts i had a idea ( oh no must stop it ) As the logistics of everyone getting together is a bit hard,
So on a given date (or maybe a week ) everyone takes a photo (Say outside ) and posts and then try to make a montage of the photo's which because of the size would have to be split into groups say moderators as one senior members as another etc etc or even countries
What do you think ? maybe some one could set it up ?

But most photographers or artists hate having their picture taken, so do you want picture of us or the front door? hehe

well LA i am in sunny (although not today) Birmingham right by the airport,
Funny i never thought about all photographers and artists disliking pictures of themselves, but that is mainly why i started taking the photo's myself only problem being it dosen't look as if i ever go to any functions etc. But surely being able to retouch photo's we could bypass the problems? Like i would make myself thinner, younger etc
But i do think the front door option could be very interesting in a nosey sort of way.
