please help, thanks.

Hi,

My dad owns a restaurant that had an attempted armed robbery. fortunately the suspect was chased out by a fearless worker. I have a 320 x 240 screen grab from a security camera but i can not make out the face. it gets a little better using lucisart but i'm not sure if there are any other ways? I'f any one knows a little more about enhancing the suspect face that would be great, if you would like to try and help my family with this i will email you the screen grab just message me.

Thank for everyones input,

Emily

That looks like a woman to me...guaging by the shadows on the chest 'she' seems to have a 'rack'!

sadly there is only so much you can do to an image. Sometimes i wish we could do all the cool stuff they can do on that ABC CSI Miami show. They do make software that can enhance video. But only to an extent.

I will start by stating I am not a professional. Started with your picture and sharpened it. Ran that image through focus magic and then using a blow-up program took the picture in small increments to 8X6. Can't say anything was accomplished.

I see you have already received posts from some very knowledgeable individuals, but thought I would post this anyway.

Re: please help, thanks.

Here's a plain old school up-res in photoshop. I cut out and desaturated the background to focus more on the subject.

I'm not sure about the "rack" so much..
could have something tucked up under the hoodie in the chest and holding it up there with his/her arms tightly on sides. When I had it blown way up, looked too lopsided - maybe they wanted the loot for implants..

anyhow, hope this helps.

For this job use the program PhotoZoom Pro 2 from benvista..its a great tool that helped clean up a zoomed image of a suspect i caught on a surveillance camera. It's a 15 day trial..use the spline and xspline those worked the best for me..but try all of them to see which one is the cleanest

Re: please help, thanks.

First off I'm not a forensic photo analyst, so this is not professional. I do work with photos. I don't have a color accurate setup at home, but here is what I came up with...

As another disclaimer I did a lot of work with the channels and levels to try and summon out some facial details, so skin tones are not necessarily correct.

Ummm, you may or may not want to specify what "those kind of people" means.
You know how overly sensitive people can be these days.

Re: please help, thanks.

Sorry to hear about what happened...

Did my best to sharpen the image but as the others found, its just not good enough original quality. I dont even see why they make the quality better so you can actualy make out a face. But anyway...

resized the image to 4000w pixles then did my sharpening; also did some color corrections. Then resized to 1000w pixels to post here.

hope it helps,
-Keven

Re: please help, thanks.

I have no words of advice to help fix the existing photo, however maybe its time to upgrade the security camera?
