[img] code disabled... I'm sorry, I couldn't find an answer using the search button of the site... I don't know why I have the [img] code OFF on posting: how may I turn it ON? Thank you, regards.

Re: [img] code disabled... Oh, ok, thank you! I asked because I read the faq and there was indicated how to ad an image to a post using that tag.

Re: [img] code disabled... Can you bring it back? Why remove it it's a great feature and it's annoying to be missing it. All the clicking on the links and thumbnail is a pain. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to have the img tag available

Re: [img] code disabled... if i remember correctly, using the img tag allows for remote posting, meaning you can post an image directly off another web site, meaning, you eat up bandwidth, run more copyright risks and generally kerfuddle up the site. there's a subtle difference in adding a link to a copyrighted image and remotely linking it for viewing directly on a site. in fact, it's not even very subtle

Re: [img] code disabled... yes you eat up bandwith, website who don't want that have a setup that blocks image linking so no problem there imo. What's the deal with copyright? If I post this it's okay: http://desmitten.files.wordpress.com...t-vogue047.jpg but if it appeared directly in my post it's not? Every board including art boards like, cgtalk, conceptart, modelmayhem etc... you name it, allow for images directly into posts so why not here? thanks

Re: [img] code disabled... Links break. Not everyone has the bandwidth to dl every single image. Embedded images break the webpage formatting. Linked images can be redirected. Linked images can be abused. And yes, linking images directly from other websites without permission is not good. Last edited by Doug Nelson; 10-21-2009 at 10:19 AM.

Re: [img] code disabled... maybe true 5 years ago but nowadays saved for web images sizes are not a problem for 99% of people. I understand your arguments but out of all the boards out there that I know of this is the only one that has the img disabled. Especialy annoying here since we post lots of images to analyse and get input on. It's not that big of a deal to embed images into post on forums imo otherwise it wouldn't be available for so long on so many boards wouldn't it?

Re: [img] code disabled... karim, it not only 'eats bandwidth', it causes lag. take facebook as an example. you can direct link there and most everyone does, but facebook has some serious lag time at times. and, like doug said, links do break, meaning there's now a link that goes nowhere and a thread that makes no sense because the image was taken down on the remote site. we like to encourage folks to post directly on the site. it preserves the image, eats very little bandwidth and is generally 'cleaner' to the site. also, broadband is not nearly as broad as you might think. there are lots of places in my area that can only use dial-up still and that includes where i work. thankfully, i have dsl 6.0 at home
