Canon S2 IS..

Well, I finally decided on and bought a camera. I'm officially dead broke until next payday lol.

I picked up the brand new Canon S2 IS. It just came out for $499, but I got it for $474 + tax.

It's got 5 megapixel, 12 x optical zoom, image stabilization, and a super macro mode built in that can go from 0-3.6"!

Couldn't ask for much more for the price. I was gonna get the Digital Rebel XT, but then I'd have to bought my macro lense and extension tubes, etc.

Only thing I can't figure out.. I got video recorded on the camera, copied it to PC, but how do I convert it?! It recorded in .avi and I want to compress with DiVx or Xvid or even mpg. It won't open in Tmpeg. If I open it in Virtual Dub it'll open, it'll play, I can apply filters, but when I goto save it gives me an error.

Here's some pics I did with the camera if you wanted to see.. these were resized:

Here's a shot I did, but didn't resize. I just cropped it:

.. and here's a few videos I took. It can do 640x480 @ 30FPS, which I shot in, but I resized them to 320x240 and compressed them:

That's with the mic level at 3 and I think it goes up to 6. So, I'd say it's pretty good.

Only thing I was mad at is my friends band played all new songs and I wasn't thinking. I should have just captured all video. These small clips are all I have to go off of until the new album comes out.
