Spyder 2 Not Working on my PC?

Please help, I've recently got another Pc and I'm in desperate need to callibrate the monitor, I've installed the Spyder2 1.0.5 software but the bloody thing just won't run!

I keep getting error messages: Spyer2 1.0.5 has encountered a problem and needs to close. no hint of what the problem may be and I'm feeling very frustrated.

I've tryed updating my directX, hardware acceleration is full, the firewall and virus programs are completely disabled as well.

Please help if you have encountered this problem before and got it sorted, I'm at the end of my tether.

Did you install the software before you plugged in the Spyder? When you first plug it in you should get the first time install dialog ("Would you like Windows to search for the best driver?")(Say "yes" by the way).

I did install the software before the spyder, but now you come to mention it, windows didn't pop the usual box up when it was plugged in afterwards.

I do not know the whole picture, but the fact that firewall and antivirus are disabled could mean that you have a virus. Some of them would start with disabling (sometimes very subtly) anti-virus programs/firewalls.

Perhaps a newer version of the software?
