Yay! My Intuos3 just arrived.

I ordered the 6x8 Intuos yesterday and got it today. I'm eager to get home and start using it. I've found several limitations in the past several weeks that I think I'll be able to overcome with the Wacom.

Does anyone have any advice or pointers for a beginner? I've never used a tablet before.

Use the most current drivers. And I map my pen to mouse mode (saves my wrist).

Give your mouse to someone and tell them to hide it and to not give it back to you for a month no matter how much you plead, cry, moan, threaten or whatever.

At the end of the month, you will not care if you get it back.......

The thing is, I haven't used a mouse in months. I have gotten so used to the trackpad on my Macbook, that I'm at a disadvantage when I try to use a mouse! That's one of the reasons I thought I would thrive with a tablet. I feel like I've been "finger painting" with the track pad, and I'll be graduating to a paintbrush.

i have been using the same tablet as you for the last 6 months, i cant tell you how good they are! all i can say is you can do 50% more work in the same amount of time using a tablet to a mouse. all i can say is use the tablet as much a possible over the next 4 weeks....

also please post some of the work you do with the tablet.

I will certainly start posting my tablet work soon. I'll also likely be re-doing a lot of my recent retouches.

I have a 9 x 12 Wacom tablet and the airbrush. I find it very helpful. What retouching/restoration that I do is only done for practice and fun. However, it sure makes fun a lot easier.

I only have a wacom volito 2 (cheepest to see if I liked it) and I have to admit things are a lot easier and less frustrating with it than without it. Some of the comments I read about useing a wacom made it sound as though it took a while to get used to them, but so long as you look at the screen rather than the tablet there's nothing to it. (about 5 mins and I was OK)
