backing up cheetah RIP

I have discovered that our IT department doesn't back up our RIP servers which is a train wreck just waiting to happen..i know on the mac i can archive the preferences, the associated queue folders and the application and that would be enough to get me going in the event of a hard drive crash..i don't know enough about a PC to do the same task..we are using MS windows server 2003 on HP Proliant work stations, how difficult would such a task be?

Re: backing up cheetah RIP

if the servers are running raid 0 or 5 or any other "reconstructable" raid solutions then you don't have to worry about back up because if one harddrive fails a new one can be inserted and reconstructed using algorithms. If not.....I'd imagine it would require many many gigabytes if not terabytes depending on how many harddrives you are backing up and a lot of time.

Re: backing up cheetah RIP

it's not used as a file server so there isn't a lot of data to backup..i just don't know the steps involved...
