Printer printing images on full page..

We have an HP PSC 1510. I've downloaded some images from the web and modified them with text. I want to print them out. The images are all about 1" wide by 2" tall. Every time I go to print they print on a full page of paper!

Any ideas? I've tried setting resolution to 300 and even 600dpi with no luck. I made an image in GiMP that is 8.5 x 11 and stuck all my images on there. It prints freakin huge. I've also used the separate images and printed right from Windows (right click and hit print) with no luck.

I already wasted an expensive piece of paper. Damnit I knew I should have printed a test first.

The stuff I am print on costs about $32 for 25 sheets.

If I go in GiMP and look at the Print Size it says:

Width 0.900 inches
Height 1.605 inches
300 pixels/inch

Re: Printer printing images on full page..

Let's see. You image is 270 pixels by 480 pixels. If you set the Print ppi to 300ppi you should get a print job of .9" X 1.6". 600ppi is way too high a ppi.

Why don't you try inserting or placing a 300 ppi image into a Word Document or InDesign (or any Page layout app) and see how that page prints. You should see the correct image size in inches when it is placed into Word.

Re: Printer printing images on full page..

yuppicide,
Don't know if you resolved this yet or not.
If not, it's hard to tell without a bit more specifics on which application you were printing with. It sounds like Gimp, but not 100% sure.

Most likely, it's a print preference. I'd say hunt through the preferences and other driver settings to see what was overlooked.

Otherwise, give us some more feedback to help us out.
