Just got my Wacom!!

I just got my Bamboo Fun (small) in today!
I'm glad I got the small one, and how did I ever do anything without this!?
Just thought I would start this thread if there's anyone thinking about getting one. I searched and only found info about extra pens etc.
I haven't even gotten in to PS. I'm still having fun just getting adjusted and doing normal operations while having fun!
I am so ecstatic about this tablet!

So if your considering a Wacom....GET IT!

I don't think you'll find anyone here who'll disagree.

Re: Just got my Wacom!!

the only problem with wacom tablets are the price, some may find the following models useful as well:

I just got one too (a Wacom fun tablet.) I'm exploring the different brush variations with my brain squeaking, and my eyeballs crossed and bouncing!

I would be very interested to know if people use their tablets for everything, or whether they reserve them for stuff like creating paths, or retouching work. How much mouse, how much tablet? Right now I'm hoping there will still be a lot of mouse, given my clumsiness with the tablet

Re: Just got my Wacom!!

I use it for everything. I started out using the pen all the time just to get used to it. But now I use the mouse for all my general work and the pen when the clicking of the mouse gets to be too much. I wish they made all mice silent.

Re: Just got my Wacom!!

Okay, thank you for that Rohape. The real answer is, I guess, that like you I've really got to use the tablet all the time, until I get used to it...

Re: Just got my Wacom!!

You'll find that nearly everything is easier with a pen. The only thing I ever use a mouse for is browsers, where the scroll wheel is irreplacable. Remember you can assign application specific pen settings- so if you are using the operating system finder (or what windows used to confusingly call "explorer") you can assign the pen buttons to double click or modifiers.

Re: Just got my Wacom!!

Thank you Mark. I was wondering about customizing the system... I've got to check out the user manual about that. Right now I am doing everything so clumsily the tablet feels like something I would only ever use to do repetitive line work, or something that needed different brush pressures, but it sounds like the issue is more to do with my inexperience, rather than the capabilities of the tablet.

Thanks.
