looking for a laptop for photo editing

I like to purchase a laptop for editing photos and for everyday use, mostly editing photos. I will install PS2, Lightroom, and few plug-INS for PS. I would like to ask other members who use laptops for editing for their recommendations as to what specs should I look for. How much Ram is needed, Hard Drive space, LCD Screen resolution is very important, Any brand other than Apple. Keeping in mind limited budget and this will last me for a while. Thanks in Advance.

Sunny

What do you consider a limited budget?

Re: looking for a laptop for photo editing

Without getting into specific brands, here are the specs that you will have to judge which are the most important to you

screen size: The bigger the easier it will be to work on. For me nothing less than 15" will do. What is important to you?

resolution: The higher resolution, the more flexibility you will have. For me nothing less than 1280 x 1024 will do. What do you think you will need?

portability: for me is irrelevant. I need a computer that I can move from place to place, but weight is not that important to me since I don't move that much. How important is portability to you?

battery life: It doesn't matter to me. Does it matter to you? If it does, remember that the more powerful the laptop, the worse the battery life will be.

horse power: Will the laptop be your primary platform? Just remember that the more power your laptop has, the smaller the battery life will be.

ram: as much as you can afford, as much as your OS will support. No arguments in this area.

hard drive: the faster the better and the larger, the better.

All of these things, you will have to judge for yourself which ones are important and which are not.

For example for me, I'm willing to compromise on the power but not on the quality of the screen.

I'm willing to have a smaller hard drive but not less memory.

Ultimately, it is up to you to make that call.

Re: looking for a laptop for photo editing

Perfect for Photo editing is the W700 from Lenovo, It has a integrated Wacom_Board and a integratet Monitor Calibration also. But the best is The Monitor with 72% Gammut.

The bad message .. it is much more expensive then 1000$
