Colour Gels

Does anyone use Colour Gels ? How do you attache them to the Reflector ?
I'm trying to use bulldog clips but it's not very successful , I get a lot of light spill . Has anyone got a better solution ?

Re: Colour Gels

Try special frames- made by the same manufacturer as light system.

Not sure if we're talking about the same thing, but I attach my gels to my flash using gaffers tape & velcro.

Re: Colour Gels

If you're getting light spill that's getting in the shot, you are probably cutting your gels too small. I use a 12 inch gel for a 7 inch reflector and attach it loosely with binder clips, all the spill hits the ceiling or the floor. When attaching gels, it's important to make sure that you leave room for air flow, without it you can overheat your tubes and shorten their life.

If it's light spill in general that you're worried about, stopa's sugestion is correct. Most manufacturers make a gel holder (usually a whole reflector with a slot), but again, make sure you get one that had no spill air vents.

Cheers,
Michael

Re: Colour Gels

Gels I refer to are 12 "and very flimsy . The ony thing I can find at lighting suppliers is a sort of double clip .
