Computer: Companies offering 64-bit, 8-core workstations

Let's build a list of companies that offer dual (or more) processor 64-bit workstations.

Add links if you got them:
Apple, obviously
HP's new line is getting surprisingly good press
Polywell offers a workstation specifically designed for Adobe CS4
Cerise is new to me, but has a great industry reputation

I'm particularly interested in multi-processor Nehalem machines.
And notice that one thing most of them share (at least as an option) is the Nividia CX graphics card.

CUDA is fascinating and powerful, but it's worthless unless the app is written to support it. No Adobe apps are. As far as Photoshop goes, it would be running on a single 2.33ghz quadcore CPU. Very good still, but not up the the 3+ghz 8 core machines mentioned.

that's only a 6 core. mac does have some 8 cores in the mac pro line, with up to 32 gigs of ram and 4 terabytes of harddrive space and 4 pci-e cards expansion.

Interesting, I'd say that a dual (2) Quad (4) core would be 2x4 = 8 cores.

I only have a Tb of harddrive space, but that's all just scratch disc, as all work is on the servers.

Not saying that there aren't computers out there that are much much better.

I'm just happy with the speed and consistency of my system at the moment.

You say that, but my paltry pc at home can do one thing that this lovely mac here can't do. Allocate more than 3 Gigs of Ram to Photoshop. It'll be possible in the next MacOS, but this still pisses me off.

Also I agree that macs have been historically better for design work, I tend to not agree so much anymore. Esp with windows 7 coming up....

yup, for the first time ever, i'm actually going to endorse a microsoft product... windows 7 is impressive! i've seen it and played with it and have it on order along with a new $2000, 64 bit I7, 6 gig, dual RAID terrabyte, screaming quad core beast! ok, so i'm excited about the new computer. but, what is really going to make it even sweeter is the new win7. this thing is FINALLY THE MOST STABLE OPERATING SYSTEM microsoft has ever built, including win2k! yup, straight out of the box, no patches, no service packs, it's THE most stable o/s MS has ever done! and it's fast! it's not the bloatware that is vista! it's not the semi-stable winXP. it's all the good of XP and Vista without the boondoggles, crashes and bloated crap. vista took almost 2 gigs of memory all by itself. win7 will take about 500 megs or so, depending on what else you put on it.

you can get the release candidate now and try it out for yourself. just go to microsoft.com and follow the links. it's free to try and expires in june of 2010. so, test it out for yourself and see.

from what i can tell, M$ has finally got it right!

p.s. also, if you buy a new qualifying machine with vista home premium or above on it, you'll get the win7 upgrade for free when it comes out officially in october!

Strange... I have CS4 and 8 GB of RAM at 32 bit in a MacPro and PS Works with 3,8 GB of RAM when needed.
