Epson Perfection 4490 Photo scanner

I have an Epson Perfection 4490 photo scanner. I had scanned a photo and noticed that the copy skin tone was darker than the original photo. Can someone please tell me why the copy is darker than the original photo, and how to scan a photo with the original skin tone. Thanks.

Gerald
