Re: Faster Faster...

I read quite a bit on ... and went for:

Stripe Raided 60 SSD boot disk which keeps the OS and moving stuff around super fast.
I've then got a stripe RAID made of two 15000 RPM 150GB drives - the inner 30GB (faster bit of each drive) is used for scratch (Total 60GB) and the outer (230GB) for a fast working disk.
I've stretched to 20GB ram, which seems to be enough for most work I do.

It's all backed up via SATA to a larger slower disk.
and nightly backed up to G-tech Mobile drive which I take home...

I've also kept my system to a bare bare minimum - Literally Just PS, Mail, Safari & Transmit, which does wonders to keeping it happy.

I'm going to step down to one SSD for the boot, see if i notice a difference in real world usage. As nothing is stored on boot, 60GB would be enough.

I'm dead happy with the set up though, would recommend to any PS professional.

Next Project - when the new MacBook 13" is released - rip out the CD drive and have dual SSD inside... one for boot, one scratch... Trying to figure out if the MiniSD can be used for anything useful... would be pretty funny to keep a few boot volumes on SD cards - one for work, personal etc - anyone tried that? Also hoping the new 13" gets E-SATA...
