Question Computer can't locate Wacom tablet driver

I purchased a new computer that runs Windows 7 and I am trying to install an Intuos 3 tablet. I installed the latest driver that I downloaded from Wacom's web site. I can't get the tablet to recognize the grip pen and I tried to open the tablet properties but I get the following error message "The tablet driver was not found"

The tablet runs fine on my old computer running Windows XP.

I've e-mailed Wacom's technical support but since I don't know how long or if they will be able to answer my question, I would like to ask if anyone else has had this problem and what the solution might be.

normally, devices requiring drivers come with the device. do you have a cd that came with it and did you try installing from the cd? windows doesnt always have the right drivers.

Re: Computer can't locate Wacom tablet driver

Thanks for the reply.
The driver that came with the CD is older than my Windows 7 operating system so I decided to download the latest version from Wacom's web site.
My tablet now works but there's still a glitch and my computer still periodically can't locate the driver.
I've overcome this by using the Tablet Preference File Utility.
I created a backup of my tablet preferences and I restore the backup whenever my computer can't locate the driver. Restoring the backup then allows me to use the tablet.
It's a long explanation but luckily it doesn't happen often and it takes only a few seconds to get the tablet up and running again.
I hope this helps anyone else who may be experiencing this problem.
