Hi Andrew,

I sent them back to NEC do to damage, but the replacements are on their way.

From what I remember the measurements are about 20.4in wide by 12.75in high.

1920 x 1200 = PPI = √(〖1920〗^2+〖1200〗^2 )
-----------------------
24

PA241W - PPI = 94.3398

Just measure the horizontal length of the display and divide by the horizontal values you set for the screen rez, you get the dpi output. 94 is what I get too (although I’d hope you can drive this higher that 1920, no?).

Hi Andrew,

No, 1920 is max.

Even with Matrox triplehead2go it would be 1920 * 2 = 3840,
but windows will not let me go beyond 1920 at 50Hz

I believe you are hardware limited to 1920 because of your computer and graphics cards. With an old Power PC Mac I am limited to 1920 as well with a PA271w. Is not an issue with the 2010 Mac Pros with the same monitor.

Your PA271W at 1920, do you have to view it in letterbox?

No, it is normal view. Not stretched nor letterboxed, just lower resolution than the capabilities of the monitor.

Hi Fostercat,

If I understand you right, your running your PA271W at 1920 x 1200 and your
Getting 108.9 let’s say 109 PPI form your monitor?

The reason I ask I’m thinking of exchange my PA241W for the PA271W
For the 109 PPI, it will be closer to my Lenovo W701’s PPI which is 133 PPI

If you are running your PA271W at 1920 x 1200 and getting 108.9 PPI
That will work for me, the 94 PPI from the PA241W is just too low.

Yes.
I think you will appreciate the 27 over the 24. I've run into this, and it may pertain to your problem as well, not a hardware block per se, but a connector issue. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1065765
