Monitor right for me?

Hey everyone I'm new to the retouch community and already have a question. I want to upgrade my monitor that use to edit my photos and since I haven't bought a monitor for such a long time I feel kinda out of the loop.

I know that I want to stick with NEC since I've own one for so long. I started searching around and found this NEC MultiSync PA241W-BK: http://www.edexdeals.com/StoreFront/...MONITOR-LCD-24
It is definitely in my price range but I just wanted to know if it is a good deal.

Yes, quite good but be sure you get the supported colorimeter (if you don’t own one) and their SpectraView software for calibration.

I've read from some people that the lighting where you do your editing effects what you see on your monitor, what exactly would I be looking for in the specs of a monitor for this.

Made the plunge and ordered the monitor a week ago as well as colormunki. So far very pleased with what I am seeing in the monitor and can't wait to try some photo editing this weekend when I have more time. I'm glad even with the colorimeter I didn't break the bank
