| scratch disk question? Hi everyone. I recently bought a 2010 Mac Pro Quad and put 16 Gigs of Ram in it along with a 60Gig Solid State harddrive which has the OS and all the apps installed on it. along with this I have a 2TB internal HD which has all the photos and work files, etc. I have heard that its best to have the scratch disk on a separate drive then where photoshop is installed. Im curious where you think ill get the best performance, having the Solid state drive or the 2TB disk drive as the scratch disk? The Solid State has 40gigs left over after all the apps and OSX. The 2 TB has about 1.5 TB free. at this point am I splitting hairs or is there a more efficient choice? thanks! |

| Re: scratch disk question? Photoshop will use RAM first and then will look for a scratch disk. What about the size of your files? In your case I would set up your boot disk as a scratch disk. 40GB should be enough. You can check the size of your scratch file if you open the info palette and click on the option button and check the scratch file size option. Here you will find more info: http://macperformanceguide.com/index_topics.html |
