| best practices for Spectraview/NEC calibration After my trusty Cinema Display bit the dust, I invested in a new NEC PA271W with SpectraView II. This is my first experience with a "smart monitor" like this, and I was wondering if anyone could offer some suggestions for the best way to incorporate it into my workflow. (1) What SpectraVision settings are best for photo editing? I started with their own "Photo Editing" setting, and just knocked Intensity down to 120 to make it better suited for my workspace (see attached). Anyone do anything different? (2) In what situations might you want to change Color Gamut to AdobeRGB, or change Contrast Ratio to a specific setting? (3) under Preferences/Calibration, there's an option for Calibration Priority (Max contrast ratio vs Best Greyscale) -- what are people's experiences with these? (4) when I wake the monitor up from sleep, it seems to take a minute to "settle in", with the monitor flickering different colors. Is this normal? Other suggestions? Thanks! |

| Re: best practices for Spectraview/NEC calibration The best settings are those that produce a visual match to the print next to the display while soft proofing the image. See:http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tu...too_dark.shtml Set preferences for Best Grayscale. After sleep, give the display 15 minutes prior to any color critical work to warm up. |
