Eizo CG243 vs NEC Spectraview Reference 241

So after deciding to not go for the slightly outdated technology the CG211 has, im left deciding between whats on offer on the modern day market instead.

Eizo CG243, or a newcomer from NEC, Spectraview Reference 241.

The main difference being that the NEC has a newer panel technology, the P-IPS, instead of the standard IPS which the Eizo has.

I've always been happy with Eizo, but am now contemplating switching to an NEC. Have any of you had this experience and do you have any pro's/con's between the two brands apart from the obvious warranty length (eizo 5yr, NEC 3yr)?

Would be great to have some hands on experience from users of either monitor also.

I’ve yet to hear or see anything from anyone (Eizo included) that justify the pretty significant price difference between their product and a comparable NEC SpectraView. The new PA series are great. The PA241 is the smallest in the group (they just released the PA30”)

Actually, the NEC Spectraview Reference 241 is almost the same price as the Eizo 243 here in the UK. maybe £200 difference. so not a great deal.

im more interested in how the NEC outperforms the Eizo. Whether the viewing angles and uniformity is a great improvement with the NEC P-IPS compared to the EIZO's IPS panel.

as i said, looking for a a wide gamut equivalent to the CG211 in 24".

You’d have to sit down in front of each to make that analysis as the spec’s are not going to do much good here. In terms of functionality, there are some new items in the PA series such as PIP (picture in picture) and the ability to soft proof in MultiProfiler that may be something you’d like that I’m not sure Eizo provides.
