| | Epson 2200 on it's way!! I'm so excited I'm dancing around the house!! (Really, ask my husband. ) I just got notice from inkjetart.com that they have 9 printers ready to ship TODAY!! As long as I responded quick enough (and I think I did), they will ship today, I should be getting my new printer early next week (Tues or Wed). I hope, I hope, I hope!!

| | | Hey Jeanie,
You lucky gal! I hope you will be able to give us a review after you have had a chance to work with it.
Just out of curiosity, do you currently have an Epson photo printer? I have the 870, but always had wished that I got the big brother to it instead. Maybe I'll be glad I did'nt if this printer is all what I have been reading about.
In any case, congratulations in advance, and hope it works out well for you.

| | Hi Carl,
No, I don't currently have an Epson printer. I have an HP which has been useless for photos for about a year - strange "blotches" and such (even on HP photo paper) and impossible to color manage since it seems to print with a different tint every time. I've been going crazy without a decent photo printer!!
And I do hope to write a review of it, though I still owe Doug a scanner review as well. (No Doug, I haven't forgotten - I still have my notes from when I opened the case.) I keep hoping my life is going to slow down, but so far it just hasn't happened.

| | It's a good thing I'm going to be away half of this weekend - hopefully the waiting time will be "faster" if I'm not around.
Yes, I promise to give you the "scoop" when I get it!

| | The printer arrived about an hour ago - in a HUGE box!! (Big enough that the UPS man complained about it. ) I've cleared the space where it's going to sit (you'd think I would have already done that step) and am about to open the box. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!

| | I haven't had much time to play with it since I got it. A few other emergencies to deal with - including a trip to the emergency room this afternoon.
I was not so lucky to have my monitor and printer calibrated right out of the box and have been a bit depressed about that since so many other people seem to have had that experience. Depressed because it's going to cost a lot more $$ to calibrate I think. Probably MonacoEZcolor, but trying to decide if I want the colorimeter bundle or not.
The most depressing is that I've discovered my monitor does not show any distinction in the lowest 10% of shadows. And, the brightness/contrast button stopped working a couple of years ago, so I have no way to improve the situation without buying another monitor. So, there's even more $$ needing to be spent. Just too overwhelmed with the drain on my pocketbook to deal with it at the moment.
BUT - I do have to say that the evenness (is that a word?) of the color tones is fantastic! Just no comparison to my old HP. I did take detailed notes as I was putting it together and had hoped to put them together today as an "out-of-the-box" review, but the trip to the emergency room squelched that. I don't know if I'll have time again until next weekend.

| | Jeanie,
Hope your emergency was not too bad. I guess if you're stopping to post a message, things aren't life threatening but I wish you well. Sorry to hear about your problems with equipment. I know what you mean. I think these computers are huge bottomless boxes we toss money into never to see again. Been there, done that and are still juggling the credit cards paying for it all. Good luck. If....you decide to get a new monitor I would say go for a BIG one. It's worth it in the end and you will get totally spoiled by it.

| | | Nothing life threatening ("non-emergent" is how I overheard my case described while I was writhing in pain.) Just severe abdominal cramps, unable to keep anything in my stomach and dehydrated. The doctor ran every test he could think of and NOTHING showed up as to the cause. They FINALLY gave me some anti-nausea medicine along with strong pain killers and aside from being a bit groggy, I'm fine. Definitely not a fun time though!

| | Yikes!...sorry to hear about your trip to the ER Jeanie. I hope all is well and your stomach feels better soon....it wasn't Ed's zucchini bread was it?
DJ is right. Computers ARE bottomless money pits! You get the ultimate printer only to discover you will need a new monitor to get the results you want...so, you splurge on the big new monitor and then discover you need a new video card to run it at the proper resolution...then you realize your motherboard and power supply will not support the new video card....and so on...
My advice- just go ahead and get a brand new computer, new 22" CRT and a small fusion reactor to keep it all running in the event of a power failure! |

| | Glad to hear you're feeling better. I think it's worse when they can't find the problem because you imagine all kinds of senerios.
Hope your computer woes didn't contribute to your sick stomach. I know mine left me feeling queezy when I suddenly had to replace the entire system a while back.
