Where is the new Mac Pro

I am in this crazy holding pattern waiting to upgrade my mac pro to accommodate my workload. The Mac Pro is seemingly either dead or forgotten. All we have is speculation and no real news on what Apple is doing with the product line.

Please everyone express your need and tweet @apple or mail tcook@apple.com to get the point across.

Re: Where is the new Mac Pro

The rumor is that Apple will drop the Mac Pro line which doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Re: Where is the new Mac Pro

I’m waiting too, really need a new MacPro. I was under the impression that IF Apple announces a new box, it will be this month or maybe next.

Then there’s this: http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/

Re: Where is the new Mac Pro

I am super familiar with the macrumors buying guy so much so that I have noticed that the release trends for mac devices sorta trend towards a longer period near the end of their design cycle and then Apple redesigns them. Speculation but the Mac Pro should see a redesign.

Think about the things they could add to the world best workstation.
-xeon e5 chips
-integrated SSD for the OS and apps
-6g esata ports
-SSD Mounts
-thunderbolt
-getting rid of the disc drive
-PCIE3
-SLI graphics cards

Re: Where is the new Mac Pro

As I wish to work with video & 3D in the future I will need really powerful computer. (at least 16GB of RAM, best video card, SSD drives, thunderbolt etc.)

But what about software & system? What do you think of Gatekeeper future coming with Mountain Lion? Isn't it a way how to move all software to the App Store? Is Adobe, for example, going to offer their pro line software via App Store and pay 30% from all sales to Apple in the future?

Edit:

I am on MaBook Pro now and Snow Leopard. I will be not able to install Mountain Lion as my computer is few years old. I don't like the way Lion & Mountain Lion is going. I was happy with Leopard. But Snow Leopard is first 64-bit. Otherwise I would stay with Leopard.

Few days ago I released that I am not able to write DVD anymore. I have no problem to read any CD or DVD but I am not able to burn them. I found a post on the internet where more people are complaining about similar experience with Snow Leopard.

I am not able to install newest version of Xcode on Snow Leopard. I am not able to install iBook Author on Snow Leopard. I will need install Lion on an external hard drive to be able to work with this software. This is the last system which will work with my few years old MacBook Pro.

Sometimes I am asking myself: Did I get what I paid for?

The answer is no. Macs are great, but they're WAY overpriced.

Want value for money, buy a PC. Apple is a company that makes iToys, they don't make highend professional computers anymore. Well, they still make them, but it sure as hell isn't their focus anymore.

Good luck.

Re: Where is the new Mac Pro

Let's see... new cpus just came out. Appropriate gpus assuming a continuation of all AMD in the lineup would mean that appropriate models are just starting to trickle out. They've officially launched, but they're not necessarily shipping in volume. My prediction is summer again. Ivy Bridge E from Intel isn't even due until Q2 of next year meaning that it'll still go a year or more without any changes once again. I'm aware that much of that line still carries 2009 technology.

Re: Where is the new Mac Pro

For Mac-users at work we've switched to (upgraded) iMacs instead of the Mac Pros. Easier to set up and move around I guess...

The mandatory super-glossy iMac-screen is horrible and makes no sense to me. If there's a tiny bit of sunlight in the room you're just looking at an expensive mirror...
I guess shiny things look good in the shop... :/

(We've bought external monitors for colour-sensitive work).

Interesting …

http://www.appleinsider.com/articles...idge_chip.html

I don't believe that MacBook Pro with MacBook Air's design is going to be a computer for professional use … but the next iToy? Sure.
