Need Help - Graphic Update Mac Pro Nehalem
The card I use right now is ATI Radeon HD 4870.
It is the 3rd one right now.
From time to time it causes faults with Photoshop CS5 and CS6.
Lets say working on a mask (e.g. gradient) it will then calculate errors in all masks in the whole file.
This often happens in complex files - even with the GPU-Setting in Photoshop set to normal.
I am fed up with having apple care exchange the card - as the faulty behaviour is back soon.
Last time at the genius taking 60 min. Apple really could nail it down to the card. But they only exchange the existing one - no chance to upgrade for the pricedifference.
So I am going to buy a new one. Either the PNY PCIe 2048MB Quadro 4000 Apple MAC Retail or the ATI Radeon HD 5870.
My question now:
Would the PNY PCIe 2048MB Quadro 4000 Apple MAC Retail be a good choice for mainly Photoshop? Especially the 64-bit double precision calculation seems to be the thing that makes the difference.
Any advice greatly appreciated :-)
Re: Need Help - Graphic Update Mac Pro Nehalem
Before you upgrade, make sure the card will be compatible.
In my opinion, I would go with a newer card than the 5780. I had originally chosen to go with the, I believe it was the 6950 when I was building my workstation. I ended up going with the 7870 though.
